Now, if you've been recently job seeking I'm sure you've gotten one of these letters. The letter may have came direct mail, email or from place of employment. The letter says something similar to"Thank you for your interest. However, I believe you are over qualified for this position."
What? Did they really send me this letter is the first thing that comes to mind for me? Although, I must say this experience for me is a good example of an under qualified person in a qualified persons position. I don't mean to vent but enough is enough and the response email i sent back professionally screamed it.
I am so fed up with letters like this , i understand a person with skills seeking higher pay could be insulted by some of the pay companies are now posting. I saw an ad that asked basically for a super woman administration assistant for a measly pay of $7.00 hour. Yes, you heard me $7.00 hour for a super woman administrative worker. Unfortunately, you have to read between the ads to realize they really want a sucker to come into the office and do 5 jobs for minimum wage. Although, if you have the experience and wish to work your way up from the bottom of the pay scale the email or letter you'll get back will probably say sorry your overqualified.
Seriously, if you were someone that just needed to provide rent and food for your kids, whom didn't mind low pay. You could really be hungry and homeless because of someone who assumes they know all.
I would like to personally say "if you're a hiring employer take the time to see if a person is really interested before you throw in the towel." This decision could not only gain the employer a educated employee at a lower rate, but could also help a family in need.
